Former Astro Smith dies of heart attack

HOUSTON -- Dave Smith, an Astros reliever from 1980-90 and a member of all three Houston playoff teams in the 1980s, died Wednesday of a heart attack. He was 53.

This guy had some amazing stuff. If it wasn't for him the Astros wouldn't have had their success during the 80's.

Geez the guy always looked like he was in high school. Excellent setup guy as well. You dont see Dave Smith's anymore. He had zero power so he never threw the fastball for a strike. Felt bad for him in the all star game where he lost his nerve and got rocked. Smithy was a good guy, hate to hear he is gone.
