At least they give out tickets to people that park right next to fire hydrants. I once got a ticket because I parked within 7 feet of one. And they purposefully didnt paint the curb red so they could keep giving out tickets to unsuspecting parkers. They finally painted it only after I complained. Bastards.

I also got a ticket because i parked my car facing the wrong direction only so I could jump start another car. Bastards.

Back in the 70s at A&M, it was illegal to be backed into a space, something they didn't tell you until after you got the ticket. The fines also increased exponentially with each ticket you received; first ticket was $2, second $4, third $8, fourth $16 and the fifth one was $32 plus a boot plus you were banned from parking on campus for 12 months. Beer at the Dixie Chicken was 40¢ a longneck then, so we used to refer to the fines as 5 beers, 10 beers, 20 beers, etc.

in the states, if you have a out of state drivers license, parking tickets in other states won't matter. so i only follow parking rules in my home state. it is so fun visitng out of state places....i can pretty much park anywhere as long as i don't get towed.

Out of state drivers aren't exempt to getting their vehicle impounded.

i use rental car most of the time. i usually just report the car got stolen if it get impounded.

Is that right? Why do they even give parking tickets to out of state then, what's the incentive to pay? Also it would seem like every out of state would just park illegally in front of hydrants etc. instead of paying parking garages

here is the thing. if you get in trouble in another state, then you're ****ed. the popo can arrest you for all the tickets unpaid in that state. if you just do car rental in another state, all parking ticket supposely go to your rental agency and goes back to your home state dmv, but it never happens. rental agency employee are not the brightest people in the world and their system is pretty bad...so parking, even some minor violations just disappears.
