    Brian Urlacher, Bears part ways

    Greatest Bears | Urlacher's career

The Chicago Bears are moving forward without Brian Urlacher after both sides were unable to reach an agreement on a free-agent deal, the team announced Wednesday.Urlacher has played all 13 seasons with the Bears and is considered one of the greatest linebackers in franchise history.
"We were unable to reach an agreement with Brian and both sides have decided to move forward," Bears general manager Phil Emery said in a statement. "Brian has been an elite player in our league for over a decade. He showed great leadership and helped develop a winning culture over his time with the Bears. We appreciate all he has given our team, on and off the field. Brian will always be welcome as a member of the Bears."

Wonder how much he is asking for. He isn't worth as much to any other team as he is to the Bears, should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Bears made the right move. Supposedly he was asking for 2 years at 10-11 million which is ridiculous

no money figures that I see yet

Urlacher's game was once built on speed, but he clearly was not the same physically in 2012. It's possible a team like the Dallas Cowboys could bring Urlacher in for one last year or two, but it's worth wondering if this is the end of the line.

                It's amazing?

Unless he reduces his contract demands big time he will have to retire.

Bears have some huge voids at LB. Basically Briggs is all they got, and he's not getting any younger either. I think Ogletree is Bears 1st round pick.

Only teams that have a use for him are the ones that have a strong defense already that could gain from his knowledge, but can cover for his lack of speed at this point.

London Fletcher is 37 and "he just keeps chugging along". Nobody talks about his lack of athleticism. Urlacher > Fletcher.
A few years back people said Ray Lewis was done but he improved 2-3 years ago late in his career.

I'd much rather sign Urlacher to a 2 year deal than draft Manti Teo in round 1 and have him sit on the bench 2 years before flaming out of the league.
