JJ, as far as champaign goes, that place is in about the most "ghetto" you will get. its in the north end, segregated part of town LOL. Not really fast food per say, they cook your food to order, had to sit and chat with the homies for 20 mins. I'll be clear too JJ, were it not for the food there, i wouldn't be hanging out in that little area, when i read the police blotter, i normally see shit like this in it from that area. Police went to the corner of Market and Bellefontaine
streets in Champaign, where they saw several people standing around.
One of the persons pointed out a man standing on a corner as the
one who had fired shots into the air, the report said. When the
man was approached and asked if he fired the shots, he replied,
"Not me, I'm not carrying a gun." He also said he did not have any
weapons or drugs. When asked if he could be searched, he said, "Go
ahead," and raised his arms in the air. He also said, "I do drugs,
but I don't have any," according to the report. When an officer
felt a soft, bulky item in his left pocket and asked what it was,
the man replied, "That's my dope. I told you I do dope." The officer
pulled out a small plastic bag that contained two small rock objects
that later tested to be cocaine, the report said. In a later
interview detailed in the report, the suspect said he got the
cocaine from a "Chicago dude." He said he came to Champaign from
Rantoul to buy two rocks of cocaine, as he does every weekend. He
said he bought the cocaine, weighing 1.8 grams including packaging,
for $40, according to the report. Zachary Pierre Davis, 18, 3027
S. Chanute Drive, Rantoul, was arrested in connection with the
event, according to the report. He is being held on $1,500 bond,
according to a Champaign County Sheriff's Office official.Comment -

A Chicago man was arrested in Champaign Monday night after police found
what was suspected to be crack cocaine, according to a police report.
At about 7:30 p.m., police were patrolling near an apartment complex on
the 400 block of East Beardsley Avenue when an officer saw several people
standing near the south foyer of the apartment building, the report said.
The officer approached the building in his vehicle and several of the
people quickly went inside. The officer then ran inside the building to
approach them before they entered any of the apartments, according to the
report.
As a man was entering an apartment, the officer asked if he could talk to
him. The man stepped back into the hallway, and the officer asked if he
had anything illegal on him, the report said.
The man said he had some money, and he handed the officer about $59
dollars in cash. But he said he had nothing illegal on him. The man
emptied his jacket pockets, but he avoided the contents of his left pocket
and started getting nervous, the report said.
The officer finally told the man to give him his "dope." The report said
that the man asked, "What are you going to do with me if I give you the
dope?" Another officer arrived and the man was arrested, according to the
report.
The man was later found to have four rocks of a substance resembling
a gram of crack cocaine, the report said.
Joseph Shaw, 18, of Chicago, was arrested in connection with the incident,
the report said.
Shaw was in custody at Champaign County Correctional Center as of Tuesday
afternoon, according to a correctional center official.Comment -
