Falcons should go after him and sign him up at the spot.

#2Looks like the parties just flat out screwed up and now he's a free agent. Crazy. Who's got the cap space to sign him?Comment -

#3Had a deal in place and someone (an Agent?) screwed up and got a signed copy faxed in late. If they hadn't released him the old contract became garunteed. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Denver takes big cap hit due to dead bonus money going all on this year nowComment -

#4Really crazy. They can't sign him now to the same deal they orally agreed on because it would be a much larger cap hit. Is he going to accept even less now to stay in Denver? Will his agent be sued? Or was this a ploy by the agent hoping the Broncos would miss the deadline and not release him in time so he'd get his full 2013 salary?
And why does anybody still use a fax machine?Comment -

#7Elvis is a dumbfuk. The Broncos were offering him $8 Million a year. Every DE in the free agent market are only averaging $7 Million with their new teams this year. Elvis will be lucky for someone give him $7 million. Him and his dumb agent wanted something around $10 Million and they lost by bluffing, doing a late minute submission hoping Denver didn't cut him.Comment -

#8Part of his problem was if he had done this from the start he could have been paid more. Problem is now most teams have made their moves and now have very little wiggle room left under the cap. Teams that might have paid him now don't have that flexibility. He and his agents tried to play games and got burnt.Originally posted by frostno98Elvis is a dumbfuk. Here are the best options:
1) Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons made two important offensive signings with re-signing Tony Gonzalez and adding running back Steven Jackson, but Atlanta still needs to make a move on defense. Dumervil could be the perfect piece to replace John Abraham, whom the Falcons cut before free agency began. Atlanta would give Dumervil the contending team he wants, and would also reunite him with Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who was the Broncos' coordinator in 2009 when Dumervil led the NFL in sacks.
2) New England Patriots: Wouldn't this just be fair after the Broncos signed former Patriots receiver Wes Welker earlier in the week? New England is clearly in the market for a pass rusher after bringing John Abraham and Dwight Freeney to Foxborough for visits on Friday. Dumervil is younger than both, and after the snafu with the Broncos, he might love the chance to play for the Patriots – Denver's top competition in the AFC.
3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs have already signed the best free agent safety in Dashon Goldson. Why not try to keep building up that defense by adding Dumervil? The Bucs have a big hole at defensive end now that Michael Bennett – who had nine sacks last year – has signed with Seattle.
4) New York Giants: Dumervil spent the last two years lined up opposite Von Miller. How much do you think he would like the chance to do the same with Jason Pierre-Paul? The Giants have been very quiet in free agency, but signing Dumervil could be just the right move to replace Osi Umenyiora, who is now a free agent.
5) Denver Broncos: As recently as a day ago, Dumervil wanted to be a Bronco, and the Broncos wanted him. It would take a leap of faith by both sides to get over hurt feelings from the fax fiasco, but if Dumervil wants to stay in Denver, the Broncos and Dumervil could make it happen. It would require some fancy finagling of the contract and cap numbers (the Broncos now have $4.8 million in dead money after releasing Dumervil on Friday), but it is not an unworkable situation. If talks were to resume, just do them in person this time.Comment -

#11No mention of money. How much do each of those teams have available under the cap? That really is the #1 factor. I'm sure almost any team would like him, question is who can afford to give him the money he wants.Originally posted by pavyracerComment -

#12Dumervil could sign a deal with a team with let's say $4-5 million in 2013 and a $5 million signing bonus and make the $8 million he wants in 2014 and 2015. This is just an example. If a team wants him they will structure the deal so he wouldn't absorb a huge chunk of the cap this year.Comment -

#13NFLPA is trying to get the NFL to honor their verbal agreement. Hopefully they can get this done. Either way, Dumervil will not be getting $8 Million from anyone, he screwd himself with a stupid agent.Comment -

#15Dumervil is one of the least productive ends in the NFL amongst 'starters'. He gets a ton of garbage sacks and that - and he's improved greatly vs the run. His % of snaps vs pressures/hurries/sacks is terrible. I understand the 'sack' is a sexy stat - but sheesh, the guy's a chump on over 80%+ of the snaps he's in on. I'm actually sick and tired of Bronco fan friends complaining about him. He's kind of like a Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilla type of pass rusher - but he's reasonable vs the run, to be really nice.
Crap situation Elvis had with his agent, but even at the salary that the Broncos wanted to pay him (according to reports), he's not even close to worth that sort of money. I'd be shocked if he got a deal worth what the Broncos reportedly want to pay him.Comment -
