#7$5000/mo
That is ridiculous. When my parents were divorced, my sister and I lived with my mother, and my father payed $1000/mo in child support. We moved away, my mom started a new job, and we got by just fine. She wasn't making much money, BTW.
I understand why he was paying so much money, but you don't need that much money per month to raise two children. I don't know the legalities of paying that much in child support, but I would hope if someone is in that case the court would set it up so that X amount goes to the mother for child support, and the rest goes into some type of education savings account, 529, or something of that nature.
For example:
$2,000/mo for CS
$1500/mo for kid A's account
$1500/mo for kid B's account
If I was paying $5k/mo in child support, the thought would always be in my head that that bitch was using some of my kids money on herself.Comment -

If he put them in an enviornment with a lot of overhead, he is partly responsible for them to get by.Comment -

#11It depends on the cost of living where you live also, so I know my numbers are askew, but $5,000 is ridiculous.
Also, the story doesn't mention anything about vaginamony...I wonder what the situation was there. Was this his wife? Girlfriend? Booty call? Maybe the kids were from different mothers?
Lets not forget that this money goes to the mother for her to spend as she sees fit. From there, unless you can prove otherwise, you are just trusting that they are an honest, responsible person.
I'm not saying that all women are greedy dishonest bitches, my mother was responsible with our child support. I am saying that its not a far stretch to say that some women take some of this money and spend it in ways that benefit themselves more than it does the children.Comment -

#12I wonder what else this guy was into make the kind of money that would warrant that much child support per month? Dude played parts of three seasons and this $700K bill is probably right at the amount he earned total for those three seasons. Must have had some other income source than baseball, either that or the real dead beat in this whole deal is the moron he hired for a lawyer.Comment
