signed up for the 11AM Tournament tomorrow, this will be my first one ever! Will be playing at the casino. I have a hat from the 2010 winter olympics i got from a beer case but i don't have any sunglasses...not suire if it will make me look good or bad. How should i dress/play? thanks

Seaweed, you need to make it very clear to your opponents that this is a battlefield and you will fight to the death to protect what is yours. Put your best scowl on and growl at critical points during hands. This will intimidate and psych out your opponents. They won't know what hit 'em.

Also, find a cheap pair of sunglasses. Do not remove them in sight of your opponents.

play tight at first, get a read on other players. once more players fall out, change it up. don't try to deceive in a tournament, save the manipulation for cash games. tourneys are about endurance and righteous play.

as far as looks, nothing too genuine. create a persona that people at the table will buy. it distracts them from your play because they're trying to figure you out.

After reading your posts these past few months my advice would be talk to as many people as you can at the table. If you are 1/10th as crazy in real life the entire table will peg you as a complete lunatic and it will be hard to put you on a hand.

A lot of poker is math. Good luck calculating your odds while plastered.

Guys, I'm out. Finished 52nd. Took a while to walk home. My legs are killing me. I'm pretty dissapointed, the hat and glasses were pointless. I played really tight at the start folding every hand and never bluffed once! Then when this man with a beard raised i went all in with pocket tens and he actually called with AK and I lost. Playing in person is so much harder. I made a few mistakes you guys might not be proud of but i'm glad i broke the ice. I was the first one to show up to the tables. Atleast they were giving us players free soda/coffee. I must have drank 2 litres of Pepsi

you have to play more mind games live than online... i suck online, but am pretty decent live, because i can fold good hands and get people to call me... you have to get lucky to win low stakes tourneys like that, cuz usally placing anywhere lower than 5th is worthless (win a couple hundred, if that)... its not like a 10$ online buy in where placing 50th can be worth it, or a 10k buy in where the spot after the bubble is worth a 10k profit

... I would much rather buy into a live 1-2 game with 100$, then waste it playing a 100$ buy-in tourney
