Awwww, thanks JJ. You just made my day, really. I appreciate your kind words, but I'll be the first one to say I'm far from the brightest person here. I've got a liberal arts education, so I learned to write extemporaneously with a little flair, and I enjoy getting to flex that mental muscle on here. Along with the company of good people like yourself, it's a big reason I've found a home on SBR.
As far as brilliant minds on here go, I would put all of the regular Think Tank posters above myself on that list. Those guys not only have extremely sharp minds, but many also have the enviable skill of being able to impart that information in a way that others can learn from it. I just like to shoot the breeze and am able to translate my normal speech patterns into something readable here. I'm grateful for a community like this where I can do that and be recognized for it.
You don't get nearly enough credit around this place, JJ, but you'll always be tops in my book. You're witty, accepting, engaging, and an inspiration to anyone who wants to examine the social dynamics of SBR. I've heard it said many times, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king." I may very well be "blind", and I'm certainly a novice gambler at best. It's naive, though, to characterize anyone here as leading anyone else. SBR is truly an epitome of a forum, a word which was used by the Roman's to name the square in the center of a city or town which served a purely social purpose.
Forums were the site of the majority of meetings and discussions, where all had rights to be present or participate as was their wont. SBR offers the same venue for discussion and exchange of thoughts, irrespective of their nature. I'm sure that 2,000 years ago, men were meeting in Rome's Forum and experiencing many of the same things people on SBR experience. People that were uncouth, objectionable thoughts or topics, licentious behavior, and so forth.
Yet these forums were always open to all, and so is SBR. This place isn't just about gambling, it's about the natural exhilaration of exposing oneself to the unexpected. We click on threads not knowing what we will read, and there's a small thrill that accompanies each click. No one is leading anyone else, we are all unwittingly led by the collective consciousness, and derive satisfaction from contributing to it.
In conclusion, if SBR is truly the Land of the Blind, how apropos that some of JJ's recent videos featured him wearing an eye-patch, representing our own one-eyed man.Originally posted by StraitShooterComment -
