How serious is Man-Ram with his retirement threat?
So he'd rather retire than make $40M+ for the next 2 seasons.... like the Dodgers have offered?

I guess he can't survive on that what with the gas prices as high as they are.

He can hit, but that can't hide the fact that he is an idiot.

Funny thing though, most of the time--owners are dumber. I am surprised not one of them drank the Manny Kool-Aid and ponied up a 5-year 100 million dollar deal.

They may actually be learning from the Chan Ho Park's of the past.

Barry Sanders retired on top of his game, more athletes should go this route rather than end up like Michael Jordan in a Wizards uni.

But Manny isn't retiring to go out on top....Manny is considering retiring as some sort of punishment to baseball because no one will lock him up for 5 years.

Manny would crawl on his nutsack to any city that offered him a guaranteed 5 years.

I'm surprised no team has offered at least 3 yr/70M.....

Yeah, he'll be 37 on opening day but who would you rather have... a guy who hits .300 during reg & postseason and carries teams to championships or some overpaid douchebag like A-fRod who bats .078 with 1 RBI in his last 100+ post season at-bats.

Dagger, exactly. For as crazy as he is, and he is a loony....Manny can hit. He is a going to produce no matter where he is.

And the really surprising thing is teams have spent on arseholes before. I don't want to say this is collusion from the owners, but I do think they are worried Manny will blow up before 3 years pass.
