Michael Lyons returned to practice for Air Force on Monday, but did so with his sprained right thumb heavily wrapped.

The injury, suffered in the first half at Boise State on Wednesday, kept Lyons out of practice through all of last week. He shot a few baskets on Sunday, but that was the extent of his basketball activities.

“It’s pretty swollen and movement’s limited, but I used to play with this (bandage) on as a sophomore and last year, too,” Lyons said. “It just never really healed from the first one.”

Coach Dave Pilipovich said Lyons would definitely play against Wyoming, but the question remains how effective he can be. He scored just 10 points on 2-of-9 shooting in the loss at Boise State.

“It’s going to hurt regardless, but in the flow of the game I’ll probably forget about it until it gets hit again,” Lyons said.
