What led you to start posting at SBR?

A month or two before the forum started, Bill Dozer approached me and asked me to be a moderator.

I had great respect for what SBR did in the industry and decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately it didn't work out but it was a learning experience.

I signed up some time back but didn't really post, then in August right before NFL season, I was looking up some stats for the upcoming season, and some how I came across a youtube sports vid....ok let me click on this....(holy shit)
It was a JJGOLD vid in a neck brace vid, and the Venditto response vid which to me is the best SBR vid of all time...
I posted for the 1st time in players chat and everyone called me an undercover cop! haha

I needed help, back when SBR actually helped posters getting paid when stiffed by books, and found it on google. Even though I had to actually send down to Costa Rica my comrade to take care of business and get paid I still tell people that SBR made the book pay me.

was searching for a repuable book in Sept after I seen a line for a game that I just had to bet on cause there was no way it wouldnt cover ( my first experience with a lock ) and SBR came up in Google, along a few other sites but it was obvious the other sites had ties to the books they were promoting (in a bad way).
Seen the list of A+ books and made my decision based of the reviews.

I was out mending fences along the southwest side of the property one day and there was this guy and his wife and kids having a picnic right there on my property under one of the biggest pecan trees on the spread. And I'm like, "Hey buddy! What the hell are you doing?" And he says, "My family and I are having a picnic" with this thick Yankee accent. So I tell him, "Yeah, I can see that, but you're trespassing on my property. Don't you know you ain't supposed to cross fence lines?" And he tells me, "Oh I'm sorry, we're new to Texas and didn't know. My wife and kids just thought this would be a great place to stop and have picnic. You aren't going to shoot us with that big gun you're carrying are you?" And I'm thinking to myself, No shit you're new to Texas, but I tell him no, I'm not going to shoot him. And then he asked me, "How far are we from San Antonio?" and I tell him, "50 miles as the crow flies" and he says, "Oh, we're not flying, we're driving there." So I make it real easy for this numbskull and tell him it's about an hour's drive and then he asks me, "Are you a real Texas cowboy?" and now this guy's really getting on my nerves so I tell him, "Y'all just clean up when you're finished and be careful crossing back over that barbwire on your way out." And his wife, who is just as pretty as she can be then says, "He is a real Texas cowboy, honey. He said y'all." So this guy starts asking me about what kind of cows those are back in the pasture and how come I have so many bulls and I tell him they're Herefords and all I have is one bull and he says no, I had a lot of bulls because he had seen a lot of cows with horns and those must be bulls. I tell him that horns ain't exactly the equipment that makes a cow a bull and he says, "Oh, I didn't know that." About that time his wife offered me something called a veggie burger and I turned that down, not because I wasn't hungry because I was, but on account of I had no idea what a veggie burger really was and besides I was trying to save room for the pork ribs, potato salad and 12-pack of beer I was planning to drink later. This Yankee then starts telling me he's in the internet sports information business and gives me his card before I tipped my hat and headed back up to the hacienda.

Turns out it was Bill Dozer just moving down here, reckon that was January '05 and he hired me about a month later. True story

I'd joined back in 2007 with the intent of posting, but I started reading some threads and suddenly didn't feel as much like responding. Then I was looking for a third book to add to my outs earlier this year, found what I was looking for in WSEX, and decided to check back in on the forum.

The first thread I read was that Pags "Don't let a few guys spoil my greatness for everyone" fiasco, and I watched Uncle Richie's video commenting on the whole thing. He was smoking a cig, drinking a Budweiser, and looked like no fewer than five members of my own family, so I suddenly felt like I might find people to relate with here. Lo and behold this has been some of the greatest fun I've had since leaving Oregon. So my thanks go to Richie for giving me something to catalyze my engagement with this place. Next round's on me, Richie!
