    "Discipline is overrated"
My friend is down a considerable amount of the span of 3 years. He asks me via text this morning why that is.

I tell him it's cuz he bets on impulse and favoritism as well as he lacks discipline. He's the type to start the day 2-0 and then put all the days winnings on the late game...then subsequently complains. He also does the antithesis of this (starts 0-2 and chases).

His response to all that, "discipline is overrated."

Just pointing out the stupidity of people. Didn't realize it was this prevalent (even reading these forums everyday) til it comes out of the mouth of someone you actually know personally.

its just hard for gamblers to stay disciplined...the lure of someone else making your money for you and you thinking you are so astute...it reels you in

Discipline is basically all that matters in this game -- the only true absolute.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't have it.

I honestly believe if we all focused on quality rather than quantity, many more of us would be winners.

LoL...had a student who was rotating through our office who said something similiarly stupid when she said she thought EXCPERIENCE was way over rated in the health care field.

I told her to get back with me in 25 years when she had some experience and we'd see if she still felt the same way...

                    discipline is overrated

you might make a bit more money over the long run, but you won't have nearly as much fun/pain

having your entire bankroll in the hands of some dude you're never gonna meet on the free throw line is exciting stuff

misery or happiness on the bounce of a ball, i live for that shit

I've been gambling since 2009, my personal rules on sports gambling:

                            1. Money management. Bet less than 4% of your total current bankroll per bet. Be discipline.
                            2. Be a strategic gambler by picking your spots and wait for the right opportunity.
Never be a compulsive gambler by betting because it's your favorite team or for the action.
                            3. Stay emotionless all the time. Bet like a robot. There's no place for emotions in this profession. Be unbiased.
                            4. Do your research by watching game footage, trends and statistics should be used on division rivals only.
                            5. Never bet on heavily juiced/vig lines. Like a line at -1000 for example.
                            6. Never bet on heavily valued lines. Like a terrible team at 100 to 1 odds to win championship.
                            7. Parlays should be no longer than 2 teams, the bigger the parlay is, the bigger the House Edge. Research and Secure your first pick before moving on to your second pick.

                            8. Teasers should never pass through the zero.

                            9. Teams with home field/court advantage tend to win games. Sportsbooks know this and favorites the home team.
                            "Whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight;
whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted." -Sun Tzu, the Art of War
                            10. Never bet on double digit road favorites. You will lose in the long run.
                            11. Never bet on preseason games on any sport. Predicting a 2nd string and 3rd string team is stupid because of the lack of game footage on mostly unknown players.
                            12. If you are extremely compulsive, arrogant, drunk and biased. The best advice is to "Don't Gamble".
                            13. Learn from your mistakes. Most gamblers don't learn from their mistakes. That's why I made these gambling rules.

Discipline is all fine and good for the most part.....but fukk it man.....gotta let your nuts hang every once in a while when all the stars align

We're all gunna die one day......are you gunna remember those thousands of 1 unit 1% of bankroll plays where you lost juice in the long run or that one game where you shoved all your chips in and hit on a buzzer beater??
