Food is tough biz, super tough.

I dont mean a detailed restaurant, not to be racist.. but even a sneaker store or a fried chicken store or two in lower Harlem (the better area).

Low rent, people always get that stuff up their nor matter how bad the economy is, easy to run, LOTS OF traffic (all with mostly the same interest), etc.

Charity shops are doing really well at the moment in the UK,people can`t afford to buy from the usual high st stores so they are getting bargains from charity shops.

Only problem w/ the city is that I haven't seen much of a drop in real estate markets. Because the city is so small (geographically) an supply is essentially maxed prices remain the same even as demand drops (I think this is inelasticity... been a while since econ class).

I have personally been watching Manhattan and outer borough residential and have not seen much of a drop at all.

cell phones store/electronics..... sell rechargable phones, ring-tones, acessories....

every time a kid here gets his hands on 10 dollars he goes and buys minutes... and burns them in 1 day.... unreal..

around me there are about 8 cell phone stores in a 3 block radius, 10 chicken places, 13 "corner stores" with liquor licenses, 4 beauty supply shops (that's another big money maker in the hood) 3 hair stylists, 1 nail place..

if you could combine a nail salloon, beauty supply, cell phone store, that sold 40's and had fried chicken... you'd be a millionare many times over

Down town in those neighborhoods I know a couple people that own sex toy/porn stores and they make a killing!! Bars everywhere... customers are drawn like magnets. And its easy to maintain.

I can't believe TSoprano is asking for a business to make money. I suggest getting in the garbage collection business Tony. People tend to eat more junk food in downtimes which creates excessive garbage because junk food is usually packaged in cartons, plastic or cans. With all the foreclosures running rampant you can find plenty of business collecting garbage from abundant foreclosed homes. When people are getting foreclosed they usually leave most of their junk in the foreclosed homes because they can't afford to pay movers or rent a truck.

True, but I think that applies to restaurants with a deep selection, and pricy meals. Im talking an in-and-out styled place.

Nothing special, just the basics, in a high traffic area should be able to get by. These places never go out of business, and expand any chance they get.

Deliveres are also a big volume concept in the City. Some of these stores have their guys out all day filling orders, if it could be successful and grow to 6 locations in the near future, thats a lot of extra $ coming in weekly. I know people who are millionaires from a good store or two in a good area.
