A wild idea for the 256 man tournament (more entertainment for sure)
If two posters want to challenge each other in the first round, why not let them? This would create the ultimate drama, imho.

The rules would be something like this:

If two posters both confirm that they want a match-up with each other in the first round, then it should be allowed.

What does everyone think about that?

Can't anyone see the potential of this?

        Entertainment potential:

        Grudge matches!
People out to prove themselves, challenging the best cappers.
Big bets placed between posters on these official matches! (With no funny business possible, people will feel more comfortable betting on the results).
An atmosphere of blood-boiling fierce competition right out of the gates!

For management, there's some tremendous advantages:

        1. The more features you can offer your customers, the better the product. The ability to pick first round opponents is a tremendous feature and people may enter the contest just for this feature.
        2. A more fun and exciting first round environment will generate more interest in the tournament and thus probably more website traffic. This atmosphere will probably continue into later rounds, making the whole tournament more interesting and exciting.
        3. Better featured matches. With this feature, you can be assured to have tremendous matches as featured matches, real barn burners. With this system there could easily be a dozen matches worthy of being featured matches in the first round.

I'm sure there's more advantages to this feature that I'm missing. Any thoughts on this?

I took Bread on last tourney. It was fun because the trash talk was more entertaining than the actual bets.

I took on Bread last time and our thread was as quite as a library. I guess it depends on the personalities of both people involved.

it would make it more interesting, but who is willing to put money on the line to see who is the best for only 10 plays

People are betting on themselves for the whole tournament at Betjam (that book or another), why not for one round?

After all, most people just make bets on one game at a time, ten is all right considering.

I see it working but you cant do half and half, either theres a list of 256 and u have to pair up or its random. It wouldnt work half get to pick and the other half go into a drawing!
