On UK horseracing tracks bookies talk in code because they are constantly adjusting their 'board' prices and don't want the general public who are stood in front of them to know which horses which horsesthey are shortening in price in case they go to the next board so the 'runner' will talk to the bookie something like this:

'The jolly is up-the-arm from ear-ole in three places, don't hod too much.'

Translated, this means the favourite is 11-8 from 6-4 with three other bookmakers and you're now a bigger price so don't take too much before you also go 11-8.

Yeah, the lock is my favorite. What I love about the lock threads is this. If a poster starts a lock thread and I don't see the game that day and the lock loses, you can guarantee that message board thread will be very active and near the top of threads.

You don't even have to look at the scores, just see if the lock thread the next day is active and you know the lock lost.
