Thanks Tom...I simply don't have time to do the write ups everyday like Nino does. Also I don't want to create another NHL related thread when we already have everything we need in this one.

In terms of the picks for tonight, this is what I'm betting on:

Minnesota has been frustrating. Statistically they have dominated face offs and controlled the puck and TOP. They show up normally for rivalry games. Hopefully Harding plays well. Seems like the Wild are always in a one goal game.

I normally don't like backing the Kings on the road, but there is a clear advantage here between the pipes. Markstrom has struggled and is good for 3 goals. Kings have the better power play and a much better Faceoff %. The Kings should have the better opportunity to control the puck and win the TOP and zone battle.

Kings have the better power play and a much better Faceoff %. The Kings should have the better opportunity to control the puck and win the TOP and zone battle.

For me, TOP = time of possession. Not a hard hockey stat (because it would be difficult to get a hard #), but the team that controls the puck and enters and can hold the zone and win the shot battle has a huge advantage. Faceoff Win % is becoming something I look at more. Gives your team immediate puck possession and allows you to break out of your own zone or set up the offense in your opponents zone. Florida currently has the worst faceoff win % in the league (42.2%). The Panthers are also averaging 28.6 shots/game (23rd in the league) which will go down after this Kings game. If you can't win faceoffs, impose your will, and don't get shots on goal, it's hard to win. I capped the game with Quick as the probable starter...but pleasantly surprised by the nice shutout by Scrivens today.
