Im not sure why Randy said this. Sometimes he says some pretty stupid things and I honestly think he regrets saying that he was THE best. If he said he was one of the best it would have been better.

As far as his claim goes. I believe Randy Moss is the BEST deep wide receiver in NFL history. Nobody could make the kinds of catches and plays down the field like Randy. He is probably the most physically gifted receiver in NFL history, but I think Calvin Johnson could take over that title if he produces big numbers for a few more years.

Bottom line is Randy Moss had GARBAGE quarterbacks throwing to him most of his career. And we all know a QB can make a receiver that much better. Just look at all the scrubs on the Pats and Broncos rosters. Guys have career years when the likes of Brady and Manning are throwing to you. Randy had Cunningham, Culpepper, Gus Ferrote, Kerry Collins throwing to him during his prime years. All of those guys were scrubs. Randy is the kind of WR that can make an average QB into a Pro Bowl QB (Dante Culpepper).

If Randy played for the pats during his prime there is no doubt his numbers would shatter those put up by Jerry Rice or any other receiver in NFL history.

His career would have been better if he tried consistently. He had whole games/seasons where he'd basically not try.

Also remember the rules in the NFL are much more favorable towards WRs now than they were during Rice's career.

I can't put Randy over Jerry, but this isn't an absurd statement in the slightest. Randy is the clear-cut 2nd best WR ever as it stands.

When he finally got an elite QB to throw it to him, he scored 20 TD's as the main skill player of the best offensive team of all time that went 16-0.

If he had had Hall of Fame QB's throwing it to him for almost his entire career like Jerry did, Moss's numbers could've been that much more ridiculous.
