This is due to a few things:

1) Running backs get around 4-5 carries, so there's not enough opportunity for them to get MVP.
2) Quarterbacks only play about a quarter, so they as well don't have much opportunity to put up MVP numbers.
3) AJ Green had a better game IMO, but his team got killed.

Personally, I think it should have went to Eli Manning for helping to save my over bet by throwing a pair of touchdowns to his team, and one to the AFC, all when it looked like the over was in jeopardy.

It's sad every few years to look back and see that the Vikes could have drafted Rodgers, Kaepernick, Wilson, etc. Their ability to scout QB's is beyond horrendous. Joe Webb, Christian Ponder FTW.

Don't forget TarJack. I still think Webb has some hope as a backup. He needs to be in a system like Washington though. Not bad for a guy drafted as a Wr. The play calling for him in the playoff game was atrocious. They moved the ball in the read option then completely abandoned it the rest of the game. That OC should be canned.
