Northeastern will wrap up its non-conference home schedule tonight in Boston, as the Huskies are set to host the Rhode Island Rams at Matthews Arena. Rhode Island is off to a solid start to the new season, as the Rams currently own a 5-2 overall mark. The club did, however, have a four-game win streak snapped last Saturday in a 78-65 final against nationally-ranked Villanova. As for Northeastern, it sits at an even 3-3 on the year, and the club has dropped back-to-back decisions after winning three of four to open the new campaign. The Huskies most recently found themselves on the wrong end of an ugly 55-37 final against South Florida last Saturday. Rhode Island has dominated this series over the years, and currently owns a 66-10 record against the Huskies.
The Rams shot just 41.5 percent from the floor during last Saturday's 13-point loss to Villanova, including a paltry 3-of-13 performance from beyond the arc. The Rams had a cold night at the foul line as well in the setback, converting just 18-of-27 at the charity stripe. Fordham also committed 13 turnovers, and were beaten down low to the tune of 36-26. Jimmy Baron scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Rams in the losing effort, while Keith Cothran tallied 12 points to go with four rebounds and four assists. Baron leads Fordham in scoring so far this season with 19.1 ppg, while Cothran is second with his 17.0 ppg. Kahiem Seawright leads the Rams in rebounding with 6.4 boards per game, and has also chipped in a solid 12.1 ppg. Also worthy of mention is Delroy James and his 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Rhode Island is shooting a stellar 48.9 percent from the floor this season, and as a result averages 81.1 ppg.

The Huskies converted a mere 1-of-9 from beyond the arc during the contest, and 10-of-17 at the charity stripe. Eugene Spates was the only player to achieve double figures, and he led the Huskies with 10 points in the losing effort. The Huskies are shooting just 39.7 percent as a team so far this season, and averaging only 62.0 ppg. On the flip-side, Northeastern has held opponents to just 64.8 ppg. Janning is the lone starter with a double- digit scoring average, checking in at 17.2 ppg.
