I think that a lot of these chicks are like boxers, i.e. they let themselves go and balloon up between big events. These people have access to world-class dietitians/pharmacists/trainers who can get them back in stellar shape in a couple of weeks.

It's probably a function of where these guys come from- you're talking about a lot of kids from small towns in Quebec, the rest of Canada, the northern US, as well as Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. You get few players from screwed up ghetto environments. The cost of equipment means that these guys tend to come from more middle-class backgrounds.

Bottom line to me is that NHL's management is horrible. For how cool of a sport it is, it should have a way bigger fan base than it does. I'll give them the Winter Classic, but other than that, there is no good marketing. If the commissioner is worried about the NHL's image over a stupid comment like that, he should just take a look at the NBA or NCCA..people are getting fined and expelled for gun possession, not comments about ex-gfs. I rest my case..
