#43Well ones thing for sure if Matty does what both Rogers and Brady couldn't. I will tip my hat and hope he takes the Supebowl. The Niners pass defense is surely worth punching your ticket to go to the Super Bowl. It can can be done (Eli manning) but not only do they excel at shutting schemes down they hit extremely hard with bad intentions. Turn overs will be huge for both teams. As far as comparing Seattle's lynch with the multiple ways Niners can pound the rock I personally don't think it's apples for apples. Between kaepernick, gore, and james there is just too many options to prepare for as they did with Seattle.Comment -

#48Atlanta had no pass rush to speak of today, and SF has the best O-Line in the NFL. They missed a lot of open field tackles, and receivers were wide open on simple routes all day long. After the second half of that game, the books have no choice but to make Frisco A 3.5 or 4 point favorite if they want to get any Atlanta action at all. Atlanta O is going to have to put a lot of points up to have a chance, and probably still need a few turnovers and some breaks to get the win.Comment -

#49You must have a short memory, it happened 2 years ago when GB was 3.5 favorites on the road vs. Chicago. 4 yrs ago Philly was a 3.5 road favorite against Arizona. In the 2004 season (Jan 2005 game), New England was a 3 pt favorite when they traveled to Pittsburgh to play the 16-1 Steelers. Believe it or not, Minny was a 1 or 2 pt favorite at some books when they got killed 0-41 in New York in the 2000 season. Farve's GB defending champs were a small favorite when they traveled to SF in the '97 NFC Chp. Buffalo was a 3 pt fav. in Miami in '92. SF was a 2 to 3 point favorite on the road vs. Chicago in '88, and if you really like ancient history, the road team was favored in every NFC championship game between 1978 and 1982 (back in those days, you could find different favorites in tight lined games in different regions). That's about as far back as my memory of point spreads goes.Comment -

#51These posts are always good for a laugh. You penetrating idiot. You don't think linesmakers know what they're doing when they make the spread on an NFL game? Every single line for every single game is the correct line. It doesn't matter if the 8-pt underdog ends up winning by 24, the line was the correct one. That's your comeback to my post because I'm right. The line shouldn't be Atlanta -1. If that was what the line should be, then it'd be Atlanta -1. Sorry that I'm right and you're wrong, but that's just the way it's always gonna be when I'm involved you dumbass.

#58Atlanta is one of the best home teams in the league. Only game they lost at home this year was week 17 that they didn't really care about. Seattle was the hottest team in the league going into today. Over reaction to an impressive 49ers win at home and the NFL's new shiny toy in Kapernick. Pretty sure guys like Julio Jones have some tattoo's too.
Seattle literally blew the Atlanta playoff game in the first half when Lynch fumbled on the 30, then twice on the 10 yrd line Seattle did not score. 3rd and 1, 4th and one, and time ran put at halftime. Coulda had 10-21 pts at half on that alone, wound up with 0.
After waking up from jet lag Seattle scored 28 in the 2nd half, went right thru the rested bye week Falcons.
SF played a far superior schedule to Atlanta, # 4 to # 26.
Who did the Falcons beat? Who?
49ers had a bye then a home game will come to Atlanta in better shape. And with a superior* "D" + a superior* running game to Atlanta. That is a winning formula in playoff football.
SF better RB, OL, DL, LB, DB's. I'd say Atlanta has a barely better QB (but who knows?), better WR's, that's it. I give coaching to SF, too.
Cam Newton ate Atlanta "D" alive twice... Kaepernick will do even better.
49ers by 17+... not just reacting to this week'a results.

#59Everyone panned Seattle's drafting of Irvin cause he was known liability in the run game, even in college.
Awfully high pick on someone who is just going to be in there on passing downs is what people were saying.Comment -

ATL won't be able to move the ball or score against the best D in the league (best D since Seattle lost) but ATL scored 30 on them so now the experts will say 49ers are the best. ATL WRs can't match up against the 49er secondary and I know our HOF TE doesn't match up well with their LB's.
Take the 3.5 points and thank Mike Nolan for going into the prevent defense starting the 3rd quarter. If he didnt do that, the Falcons win by double digits and the spread would be even.
Matter of fact we should go ahead and throw in the towel. Feel free to add to anything and everything that I forgot to mention.Comment -

#63Its ground hog day and like it. Hopefully Smitty and Nolan learned their lesson this week about going conservative. We should have dropped 37-44 pts on Seattle. They had no answer for our offense. Conservative handoffs and prevent defense almost cost us...and did cost me $.Comment -

People down on them comming back but isnt that what they have done this year? Really disrespected #1 seed team and at home. Admittedly I had Atl ml large and it was bleak.
