97.4% of the board here never heard of Brian Burke. there's only a handful of hockey fans here. if this thread title read Mike Shanahan fired instead, there'd be over 800 views in this thread. we'll be lucky to hit 12 views here. if we do, you can be sure 90% of them posts will be from Leaf fans.

Saying brian burke fired here is equivalent in popularity to WNBA's Minnesota Lynx GM fired today. same thing. in fact, that would get more views...it's sad, but not alot of americans care about hockey.

Thanks for the heads up. What a sad commentary about the forum. Every sports fan should know who the Toronto Maple Leafs and Brian Burke are. Every sports fan should follow the game of hockey. The second greatest sport on earth exceeded only by soccer.

Nicky when the Flyers are playing, the world could be ending and I wouldn't notice it. Nothing else matters. Learn to love hockey.

Sorry but I have to be honest. The world has chosen soccer as it's official sport. It's without question the greatest sport on earth. Every country has a national soccer team. No other sport can compare with it.

That being said, there is nothing like the game of Hockey and in the game of Hockey, there is absolutely nothing like Flyers Hockey. No, soccer is not bigger than Hockey in Philly Nicky LOL. Not even close.

Nicky I've been to the Bell Centre. Fans are crazy in Montreal, not as crazy as us in Philly though. In Montreal, you can get away with wearing another team's jersey if you don't act like an asshole. In Philly, you have another team's jersey on in our building and you are automatically a target that will be watched for the entire time you're there LOL. One false move and it's lights out LOL.

You go out to the bars in Montreal wearing another team's jersey, you might get beat up. In Philly, it could cost you your life. Seriously.

Luongo to Leafs is a lock now boys.

Burke has publicly stated many times that he hates front loaded contracts like Lou's.

Leafs upper management is feeling the pressure to make the playoffs and Burke clearly refused to trade for Luongo so they had to fire him.

there is one thing in sports that makes me shed a tear and get goosebumps.. and that is the hawks anthem. i love it love it love it. it's amazing.. nobody beats them..however, once they drop the puck, the arena is quieter than a morning mass at my local catholic church. dead silence.. no longer loud.
