If you put $100 on Scott Verplank or Darren Clarke to win the British Open
You would win $1,100,000
Odds at The Greek for both players: +11,000

I'd consider betting Verplank, he's usually pretty steady and does well in big tournaments. I think Clarke might be a little past his prime though. Never know after getting snubbed by Faldo for the Ryder Cup though

Darren Clarke actually has solid British Open form and will always give you a run at 100-1

Well I must be missing something on $100 at 11,000 to 1

Lots.
When you bet $1 at +200, do you win $200?

did you mean 11,000 to 1 or +11,000? Isn't there a difference between those?

I guess $11,000 makes it not worth it since Verplank has no chance
