Why is the north so bad at sports now?

Haven't won a football title in a decade. Haven't won many basketball titles lately. Unless you count Oregon State, the last time a team won a NCAA baseball championship was 1966. Even the teams that do well like Ohio State and UConn recruit heavy in the south now. Seems like the only sports the north is good at now are ice hockey, womens basketball and competitive eating.

What's going on up there?

many of the old industrial cities like milwaukee, cleveland, kansas city, detroit are in the north and have had massive amount of people leave.
so it's probably demographics as much as anything else.

kids in the north would rather snort coke, steal, rob and be criminals then be athletic.. Here in the south we have nothing else to do but penetrate our cousins at our reunions and play sports.

It's the seasons man. I'm in Northern New England and we have three distinct sports seasons in high schools. The star athlete at the biggest school in the state usually plays three sports and will get a scholarship for one. Down south, if you're a golfer....that's what you try to be the best at. If you're a football player...that's what you train for all year. Up here, if you an elite junior golfer...your clubs go in the closet from November to April.

Well..
Nj has some of the top hoops programs in the country but like vegas said.
The south has a big time advantage with weather.. you can play football, baseball year round ...

If I was a high school star warm weather is a major plus


But hoops wise now uconn has won recently, indiana cuse michigan all good this year
