#39I fully expected to see a domer arguing about a few questionable calls.
Could have been a very different ball game? yeah.... like 49-20 instead of 42-14.
You guys have to send Saban a thankyou card for not running up the score.
Still here... ND got there ass whooped no questioning that. But a couple early calls go there way, as opposed to all going Bama's, and this could have been a very different ball game. Again, Bama was the better team, I don't think anyone doubted that before or after the game, but many (including myself) thought ND might show up for a game on national TV.Comment -

#40One great thing about being independent is that you don't have too go thru a stretch of tough opponents.
ND doesn't schedule tough teams back to back, which could be a huge advantage.
Besides, USC and MSU are not unranked in the final poll because ND beat them.
Many other teams would have exposed them easily.
im no ND homer, but this is just dumb.
pre-season they had the tough schedule in college football.
These schedules are made years in advance.
USC preseason #1, MSU preseason top 10..
where they suppose to know those teams would crap down their leg this year?
and if the past few years if Boise was 12-0 they would have played in the title gameComment -

#41C'mon dude, if ND gets the muffed punt (and possibly 15 yards for a late fair catch signal) they are down 7-3 (or tied) instead of 14-0. Once Bama got up two scores it was over, but to say that ND would have had at least a chance if they went into the break down 17-7 as opposed to 28-0 is dumb.Comment -

#42All I am saying is that the score could easily have been 60-14.
Nick Saban didn't want to run up the score, which is the only reason why you guys lost by 4 TD's, not by 6 or more.
ND didn't move the ball AT ALL in the 1H.
Therefore, one can argue that the questionable call cost ND 3 points (FG) and 2 mins of playing time.
Do you think that is something that could have changed the game? You gotta be kidding me.

#44All the people who are saying 'the refs fixed it', if this one call would have gone different' are just pissed because they failed to see the reality. Notre Dame was simply overmatched physically and out coached with the game plan.
When the Irish finally scored late they were aided by the helmet to helmet penalty by Geno Smith the freshman, more of Bama trying to play younger guys more against the Irish starters. Saban could have easily ran this to 62-14 if he wanted. Give Notre Dame all the calls you want, Bama's O Line embarrassed their front 4, Manti was getting blown up in the holes or simply unable to tackle stronger athletes.
No excuses, Notre Dame did not belong on that field...Bama vs Georgia was the defacto BCS title game for another year.Comment -
