They should've been, but it's Opie's last chance at relevance around here, so Lou threw him a bone. But after Opie spent a year whining about needing POTY/POTM badges, they couldn't exactly let the graphic design time go to waste.

Furthermore, since it would appear that Opie is the only one who will ever get the POTY badge, he should do the classy thing (there's a first time for everything) and retire it. After all, it's only a grim reminder of how many choices there used to be for such an award in years past and how minuscule the current field is by comparison.

Actually Opie, Patty and I come down on the opposite side of just about every issue we can find, but there's no denying that I think he's ten times the man that you could ever be. Unlike yours, Patty's opinions can't be bought and sold with meaningless titles, badges and access to the Mod forum here, what you see is what you get with him, take it or leave it.

He'd rather do his own thing and be reviled than be phony in order to get ahead, and that's probably something I could better take to heart in this New Year, and it's surely a lesson you have yet to even crack the book on.
