I wouldn't look too much into this Big Bear. I've seen the underdog who was listed at 75%+ win. It works when the favorite has the public backing and you fade him... but it doesn't work with public steam on the underdog and you fade the dog and pick the favorite. Be careful.

However, I will be going small on Notre Dame ML and +9.5 because I want them to win and hope for the slight chance they pull it out or keep it close.

Exactly.
In respect to ML the 300+ dog has to get more action then the -300 fav. Even more the case in huge games like this. Casual bettors are far more likely to bet a long shot then lay wood on a favorite when playing a ML. Also it is ND, a huge public side.

That is very interesting. Seems like the sharps and/or more consistent bettors see bama as the side. Betting markets like betfair have nothing to do with the extremely casual sports fans who bet a few events a year. BCS championship, final 4 ,superbowl, ky derby etc
However that is really interesting and surprising to me, thanks for the info optional.
