Im sure you guys know better than I do about this but my local allows me to buy .5 points for -120. He uses bovada lines and every bet is -110 no matter what bovada is. So if a team is +5.5 -125 I can buy .5 points and make it +6 -120 because he doesnt use the original -125. When would it be to my advantage to use this. Is buying the half a point worth it in all situations for the -120? Or is it just best to wait until I can get a good bovada line at -115+ and buy it then??

#4I try to stay away from buying points. I don't think there's anything sharp about buying points etc. You'll lose more vig in the long run. I have a buddy of mine who buys points religiously and he claims it has saved his ass in more situations than the average Joe. He claims every 17 wagers he ties one. I told him if you're wagering 17 games in 2-3 days you're wagering way too many plays.Comment -

#5If the line is -3.5 or -3 in a football game, I always buy a half point. Same as if it was -7.5 or -7 or -10.5 or -10. 3 7 and 10 key numbers in football.Comment -

#9No. Just forget the option even exists. The books generally don't give you options to help you.Comment -

#11I have the same exact situation as you, Bovada lines all -110.........Every half point costs 10 cents
I use it on key numbers like 3,7, and 10 alot......overall its probably a wash in the long run but I like the peace of mind so its worth it to meComment -

#12buying points is for suckers
does not matter if it is a key number or a almost useless half point from 8 to 8.5
books love people who buy points, especially those who pay ridicolous juice just to get off a key number in football
funny thing is that this might save one bet and these suckers think they did the right thing and continue to do so
If you are buying key numbers at regular books , which charge way too much juice you are a penetrating idiot PERIODComment
