At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.
The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the 'apex predator', can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and 'survival of the pack mentality' bred into the canines.
See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.
NOTE:
Not for the squeamish!

Congratulations TPowell and Louisvillekid. I gave you guys plenty of grief this year and now have to eat a bunch of crow.
The Gators looked like a bunch of spoiled individual punk thugs out there clowning after each good play (which were far and few between) while UL took care of business and played with class. UL came out and whipped that ass and cordially lent a hand to pick up Gator players off the turf after beating them down.
Hat's off to Charlie Strong. I really wanted him as UF's head coach years ago. Wonderful guy that deserved this win. The one consolation for me was seeing a good guy like him come out on top.
