No more ****ing around with this bullshit! I'm gonna throw a few plays in here that are guaranteed to give you some Christmas shopping $$$!!
UAB (-2)
UAB played Oklahoma pretty tough, but came up short at the end. The problem with UAB is their lack of solid big men. They have stud players like Robert Vaden and Paul Delaney Jr. who are locks for 15+ points every single night and they have Lawrence Kinnard who also averages around 15 points per game. Tyrese Rice is a great player for Boston College, but I'm not sold on the rest of Boston College. They were killed on the boards by St Louis in 1 of their 2 losses. UAB matches up really well with BC because Boston College isn't a good rebounding team and doesnt have the scorers that UAB has. When Tyrese Rice doesn't light it up, Boston College is a below average team. They couldn't even beat St Louis when Rice went 2-14 from the field. I expect UAB to win this game because they flat out do what Boston College does best, better.
Rhode Island (PK)
Rhode Island has rose to the occasion in both of their tough games this season. Everybody knows about the near win against Duke as 25.5 point underdogs, but the other game was a 92-86 win over VCU. Virginia Commonwealth is one of the better mid-major teams this year. Penn State just hasn't played anybody yet. The toughest team they've played so far was Penn on the road. No offense to Penn, but they are no VCU or Duke. Rhode Island has shot over 50% in it's last 4 games which includes the VCU and Duke games. Rhode Island has yet to be outrebounded by an opponent as well. Penn State will be in for a rude awakening on Friday because they will face a TESTED Rhode Island team. What I like about Rhode Island also is that they seem to be improving every game. They almost lost to Brown to start the season off, but turned it around and played Duke hard and then beat a tough VCU team.
Dayton ML (-163)
Dayton seems to always play power conference teams tough. This time they are facing Auburn as the favorite. Dayton has played absolutely nobody so far, but Auburn has literally played half of those teams as well. Auburn beat George Washington 83-71 which was an impressive win, but I'm not sure that shows you how good Auburn is. Dayton only beat Wofford 52-49 in their season opener, but they have made great strides since then. Dayton has been zoned in on defense it's last 3 games. They've held opponents to a combined 43-144 (22%). I really like Dayton's Chris Wright, who is a 6'8 forward who can do it all. He averages 15 points and 7 boards a game. Junior guard Marcus Johnson is 7-14 from behind the arc and Dayton's second leading scorer this year. Dayton always gets up for these big games and always plays well in early season tournaments. Auburn has some scoring punch, but I expect Dayton to neutralize Auburn's scoring attack. I would advise the Dayton ML because of how low scoring I think this game will be.
Cincinnati (-1)
We're digging deep into the muck for this game. Both of these teams are essentially bottom feeders, but I like Cincy in this game. My reasoning is that outside of Toney Douglas, Florida State has absolutely nothing. Chris Singleton is a solid freshman that will contribute, but he shouldn't be the #2 option for a power conference team. Solomon Alabi is a 7'1 freshman who will be a solid player someday, but its not this year. Cincinnati has beat up on cupcakes so far this season, but they have looked great in all 4 games. They have yet to give up over 60 points in a game yet. Deonta Vaughn averaged 14.5 points a game as a freshman and enters his junior season as the go-to-guy for the Bearcats. Alvin Mitchell and Mike Williams are solid players that will also average double figures this year. Prized recruit Yancy Gates is a load inside and 7 footer Anthony McClain loves a good game of volleyball in the paint. I didnt know how deep Cincinnati was until I looked at their roster this year. They might not be all great players, but they are at least all decent players. I love Alvin Mitchell's ability to stroke it from deep as well (11-18 so far this year).
