I can't believe all of the posters that have received so much cash.

So far, I have received a new hunting knife from my brother. I really don't care much about getting gifts. Personally, I grew up so poor that we all dreaded Christmas and receiving gifts. Now that I have the means, I actually prefer to buy gifts for families that are struggling. Someone just sent me a picture of a 6 year old playing with his lego set that the wife and I bought for him....pure joy on a child's face is priceless.

My wife and I have been doing a Secret Santa thing for years now in place of big gifts for eachother. We go to the nearest K-Mart, and then go through the lay-away receipts, and spend about $200 paying off any receipts that show kid's clothes or kid's toys. We always leave a card with everyone, saying something like Merry Christmas, enjoy the presents, etc, from your Secret Santa. We now have a 3-week old, so in years to come we hope we will be fortunate enough to able to continue the tradition. We may not be able to see the kid's expressions, but we like to hope that some family in need is able to have a better christmas thanks to a random act of kindness.

My only fear is there is some jackass putting a bunch of kid's clothes on lay-away around the holidays, hoping someone will pay it off, and then selling it on cragslist or something.

A few hundred cash and my sister loves to give everyone $100 worth of $10 scratch offs, I hope to maybe break even on that tomorrow. I did not buy my family gifts becuase between bills and my gambling I have nothing to give but they few people that give me a card with a $100 have lots of money so i don't feel guilty.
