A lot of brave soldiers who were in combat, were wounded, who saw horrible things you could never imagine, who may have done things in combat that you could never imagine, who for a multitude of reasons that caused such severe pain, guilt, hopelessness, or many other things succumbed to internal conflict that you will never understand. They weren't pussies when they were walking into gunfire across the desert, or hoping an IUD wouldn't blow them or their buddies legs off on patrol. Mental illness is a tragic thing, no different than any other debilitating disease.

Why is it that every time someone famous kills themselves, people feel the need to go onto message board threads to call them cowards? Maybe it's just me, but I think that putting a gun in one's mouth and pulling the trigger takes some serious balls. Bottom line, if he wanted to end his own life, more power to him.

It does take balls. A true coward could never put a gun in their mouth and pull the trigger. It's not a positive act by any means, but most definitely not a cowardly act. Selfish maybe. In some circumstances.
