do you ever bet against your favorite team in a big spot?

i never have but could of made good money betting against the steelers this year..


so does anyone bet against their favorite teams?


pros: if your teams loses, at least you win money. depends on how prideful you are in your team obviously.

cons: lose money but your teams wins



i am not saying a large bet, but a normal one that is with in your regular gambling means a 1 or 2 unit play

the only sport im a loyal fan in is baseball and while i will bet against my cardinals during the season with no problem, once they get in the playoffs i generally either bet on them, stay away, or play the total... no real loyalties in any other sport so not much of a issue..

Bingo, I am as big a Pats fan as there is but money is money. Laid my first bet against the Pats last week SF+6. Although I would never do it unless I felt there was strong value involved, like any other bet I lay, it was kind of nice to be against my team. When they lost, it sucked but I felt good about the 3X I won, if they pulled the game out and covered I would have been happy about the home team win. Just my 2 cents

easy to do in a reg season gm when not a ton of meaning (plus you took the points so not like it was ml where you wanted them to lose),,did you bet against the pats in either of the last 2 superbowl losses?

I am a Pats fan as well. Leading up to the game, I was betting 10 point teasers on the "G"Men.
By game day, I think I had 5-6 bets working for 10 units total..I only bets props day of game.

I felt the Pats were going to win, but had no confidence in a straight up cover.
Obviously was dissapointed with the outcome, but at least I added a chunk to my BR.

This time I will. I took the Patriots against the Niners on Sunday, because with a Patriots loss the Broncos can basically seal up the #2 seed.

The next time I will fade Denver is if they make it to the AFC Championship game. I'm willing to lose several hundred dollars on fade just to see my team go to the Superbowl. Considering it's been 13 years since they last went.

I practically went all in week 1 fading my Colts in a mix of ML and spread betting. Just knew 100% that I would win and Colts would lose by 14+ to Bears in Chicago... the situation was just too perfect for the Bears.

For NCAAB the Tarheels on TV as a favorite usually always leads to a high scoring first half where the underdog covers. I used this in their last game vs Texas and bet the first half over and it hit easily.

but of course i hold out hope and root on for my team to pull the upset and win.

If you bet against your team in Baseball or basketball during the regular season I could accept it being much easier than say NFL for example.

eh, it's tough for me to watch a 49ers game with a pending ats bet against them. but i'm willing to use the opponent in teasers...then it's not so bad.
