The US Govt can't really think they can stop gambling do they?
I am soooo damn tired of hearing about this crap.Unfortunately,we're just getting started I believe.....The US govt seems alot more serious about this than I thought but they are frigging idiots if they actually think they can stop gambling.

Lets just say for example they did figure out a way to shut down all sportsbooks and methods of payments/withdrawls.....the ONLY thing this means is that gamblers will find their local bookies which the govt has no chance to tax or make money off of......Why don't these fucking idiots realize this and instead of wasting time and money trying to stop it,they figure out a way to tax it? ......ALL sportsbooks would gladly comply with this and the US would make millions.....A tax from sportsbooks would make revenues from lotteries look like pocket change.

Again,if they do succeed stopping offshore gaming, the ONLY thing they will accomplish is to drive people to their local bookies and local organized crime.......If the fucking idiots in our govt are suppose to be looking out for our well being(which we don't need their help by the way) shouldn't they be concerned about guys running up debts with local bookies they can't pay because they will have unlimited credit and then when you can't pay the shit really starts going bad! Atleast with offshore sportsbooks you can only lose whats in your acct

As usual, our great govt takes on something they CANT win!....Unbelieveable we have soldiers getting killed everyday fighting for our freedom and these bastards back @ home are taking it away from us

Oh well, this is my late night rant while watching tv .....I just have to wonder where and when is the BS going to stop in this country?

They do realize it, but they are getting tremendous money from organized crime interests, as that's the only parties that this legislation could benefit. The main contributors of Kyl, Leach, Goodlate and the rest of those crooks at the forefront of this proposed legislation should be heavily scrutinized, but no one will have the guts to do so.

The US goverment think they can do any thing
they want to cause the regular voters here dont
give a shit most of the time and just vote for one
part y or the other straight thru. If they can ban
the internet gamblers than the gamblers will go to
there local but at least the US goverment can get
to that money easy cause its here in the country
        and not outside.

It's the six billion dollars they're concerned about. That is money lost to the corporations, that buy our politicians votes, over and over. You see, after we vote for the politician who is supposed to represent us, he turns around and sells our vote to some corporate interest.

Corporations have no problem with 3 billion of aid each year to Israel, because Israel turns around and buys US made weapons. Taxpayers money, via Israel, into corporate pockets. That is considered 'good business'.

The 6 billion of public money that disappears from the US economy is unacceptable, because corporations want that money. That is why it has to stay inside the US.

These same politicians have tried to squash publicly funded media such as PBS and NPR, where the news is not pre-chewed, censured, and officially approved. The news we get on tv is corporately sponsored.

          Mussolini said that:
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."
The missing element here, of course, is the individual. Freedom, last time I checked, is experienced individually; not by government or corporations. Don't think we have to see soldiers marching in the streets to have fascism. We already have it. And it can be witnessed in the total control the corporations/merged with state are after.

A very dangerous aspect of the anti gambling legislation is that government is now assigning itself the authority to determine which websites are acceptable and which are not. Obviously, this is another move towards achieving TOTAL control. The freedom that is the internet is an eyesore to totalitarians. Tellingly, China has preceded the US in censoring the web.

I could go on. But fortunately there are some games coming up. If the legislation passes, I will sure have a lot of free time on my hands. I don't think these administrators understand the sleeping giant they awaken when gamblers can no longer gamble. We are passionate people. We embrace risk. With a little stretch of the imaginiation we could overthrow this government. If we so desired. In fact, according to the Declaration of Independence, this is not only our right, but our DUTY as Americans.

Let me end my little tirade with a quote by Abraham Lincoln:
"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
          -- U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864

Just how big a pressure group would gamblers become in US if everyone joined together ?

If we say the population of US is 300 Mill of which only a third actually vote ( either due to apathy or age etc ). How many US voters have gambled online ( or even with locals ) are there likely to be - my guess is that it will be a relatively high %. Even if it is only 2 or 3 % it is enough to swing any election !

The final say on online gamblng could yet be in the peoples hands.
