I've heard somewhere that banks only have about 20% of all the money people have in them. This is because they know the ratios and how much will come and go. The depression hit because everyone went to the bank to get their money and the banks were like, "sorry bro we've already given out all the money we have." Because of our reliance on banks we are fukked if everyone decides to withdraw their money since the banks DON'T have enough.
