Do you really have to fully charge a battery before using it?

I bought a cordless phone and want to try it out but it says for best results charge at least 16 hours before first use. Will it damage the battery at all to use it now and then charge it?

Yes. They are made in the third world. You know everything they do sucks if you don't follow instructions.

Good point rogue, but I bought it in US so if I break it I can return it, I gave it a try and it works fine so far we'll see if battery holds a charge, if not back to Wal-Mart for another one
