this kind of stuff is what got michael jordan suspended for 2 years
mayweather telling jack he bet $100,000 on him is at the very least inappropriate, and could certainly be seen as undue influence

Big deal. I told Festus Ezeli I put 200 bucks on the Dubs last night. At least he was smart enough to keep his trap shut about it.

I thought NBA players made too much money to be influenced by gambling tendencies? At least, that's what I'm constantly reminded here.

It makes you wonder if Mayweather is telling his buddies Lebron and Wade to take it easy on Golden State, and if you're going to win, do it by less than 8.5 points.
Just sounds really shady.
You can even hear the interviewer telling him "don't say that".

I have never understood what is wrong with betting on yourself. If Pete Rose only bet on HIS team, whats the difference? Sure he might have put a pitcher in from the pen on short rest, but that would be too obvious, I doubt he did that. For a NBA player, they are trying to win anyway. IF he told a player, better not score tonight, I got the other guys, that's a problem.

Jack has never been accused of being intelligent. Between the DUIs and accusing Ray Allen of being a traitor for signing with the Heat I think Barnett instantly regretted his choice for post game interview.

Bet he'd like that comment back.

Doubt that very seriously. He probably just has a friendship with the player - I think if you know a bud has cash riding on your performance, it might be an extra spark of motivation even with nothing to gain in an otherwise long season where you may not bring your A game each outing.

Even if that's true, not exactly something I'd want on the record....

being able to bet on yourself opens up a whole pandora's box of bad things. for example throw out rumors that you have a knee injury before the game and get a juicy line. or sandbag in the games leading up to the one you're going to bet on, etc etc

Like I said, even if it happens -- and I'm sure it does -- that's not something I'd want other people to know about.

Glad this isn't a bigger deal.
Dude was basically just bragging that Floyd Mayweather talks to him.

Athletes look for motivation in all kinds of places. The comment slipped, doubt there's a conspiracy going on or that he was somehow cut in on the profits if he lit it up.

His answer had little relevance to the question he was asked.
No doubt he just wanted to slip it into the interview somehow.

Lou, if Floyd Mayweather told you suck his dick, would you ban him for a day or do it?
