Yesterday's answer was "ACIDIC". (Explanation: Each word on the list has the property of being the same backwards and forwards when you remove the first letter. The word "acidic", which describes the sense of taste, fits this pattern The title of the puzzle also gives. Something which is "not basic" (e.g. not akalline) is acidic.)
