#37Down about 20k from sports.
Up about 2k from roulette.
Down about 5k from BlackJack.
UP about 25k from poker.
Over all...not really sure...All those are estimates, which means I'm probably leaning towards the feel good doing better then I really am. SO maybe down 5k in 5 yearsComment -

#38Lost about $10,000 in the past year. It sucks, because I could have done so much better with a little discipline.
But I feel like I'm learning. Like I could do better if I just pulled my head out of my ass.
I'm sure many other losers feel the same way.
Shit, the wins feel so good, but the losses.........god damn they hurt. Especially when you ride against the public, feeling like you are on a good thing, and then aunt Bertha and cousin Ned end up winning their $15 and you end up losing $600. It sucks.
And this shit takes up so much time... time is money... and it takes so much time...
Yup, this is fun!Comment -

#40Up huge lifetime (prefer to not discuss amounts in a public forum).
This is the best advice I would give and I would be curious to hear from others who are also up great amounts-if they agree or disagree with this advice:
Take payouts consistently when you win no matter what size of player you are.
Too many players have this mentality of it takes money to make money. They get into this fantasy/reality blur that they have to be betting Billy Walters and Spiro like amounts on games. I've had many good friends in this industry/hobby that I've met thru the forums that never feel the amount they are betting is good enough.
They can be betting and winning consistenly as a $20, $50, dollar, nickel, or dime size player. Then they suddenly want to double, triple, quadruple, etc the amounts they bet. They do not want to take a payout for the reward of their hardwork that resulted in a winning streak or a nice hit on a big exotic wager, etc. NO.....they want to then do as I mentioned above. The streak cools down while their now betting several times their normal wager. Then the money is gone. And then they repeat the same cruel game over and over.
Take payouts when you win. Plain and simple-nothing more nothing less. Profit is profit.Comment -

#42Gambling since I was 8. All day every way type. Prbly lost ~$86k in sports, ~$100k+ in stocks and about another 100k easy across casinos (bj, poker, roulette) and horses. If you factor in travel (air, hotel, etc) for Vegas trips and that's probably another 40k. Tried stopping 100 times over 18 years. Went to GA for first time last 2 summers ago, and haven't placed a bet (sports, stocks, anything) in close to year and a half. Lurk on this board periodically, because the pain of some posters keep me focused on not gambling. That, and a GA meeting a weekComment -

#44Im probably down 3-4K in my life. But I've been gambling for about six years. My goal is obviously to make money, but with all the games I play, if I can only lose $500 in a year, Im not incredibly upset.Comment -

#51Originally posted by podunkI'm done....cashed out this morning.
And how much I´ve lost?
Dont have an exact number but around 20K in over 10 years of gambling.
I would definitely be in the black if I could just stay away from the I-MUST-BET-BIG games that seems to come up every now and thenComment -
