S Carolina isn't exactly a good team either. They play defense but they can't move the ball on offense. They have 2 QBs that that put together aren't half of a decent one.Comment -
I could say, when Bowden got fired, but that wouldn't be quite right because no matter how much his teams underachieved, they were always ready to play the Cocks. Bowden was 7-2 straight up against USC. Still, the team has played a lot better since Bowden got the boot, and the numbers say Clemson is the better team this year, even when the games under Bowden are included.When did Clemson become the better team?

I like my gamecocks here. I dont see Clemson scoring more than 10 points, if and only if USC doesnt turn the ball over much. That being said, it looks like Smelly is going to get the majority of the snaps to start and that could mean a Clemson DB will have more receptions than Kenny Mckinley.
Of course everyone who didnt watch the Florida game sees that final score and second guesses USC defense, but go look at the drive chart. Only 3 drives longer then 45 yards, 2 of which had huge plays. Most of those points by Florida were the result of no offense from USC. That game should have been a 27-10 type game which isnt bad considering how the rest of the SEC has faired against the gators.
Clemson's offense is dreadful. They socred 13 on Virginia last week off 4 turnovers and their only TD was off a trick play.
Spurriers also has 2 weeks to prepare. Clemson's home field advantage is minimal for a noon kickoff.

Clemson favored for several reasons:
1. THey're at home.
2. The Tigers are playing better/harder for Sweeney than they played for Tommy. Tommy had flat out lost that team by the time they canned him.
3. As a USC grad it pains me to say this, Clemson owns USC. Just flat out owns them. USC's abysmal record against the Tigers speaks for itself.
4. There is, no doubt, some residual from the UF beat down two weeks ago.
The line seems about right. I hope my Gamecocks win but no way in hell would I put money on this game...

Dont get me wrong, I understand completely why Clemsux is favored. But I think a better coach, a better defense, and better special teams is worth a small play. Or atleast on a teaser....Comment -

One of the many things I've learned from you and other posters here at SBR is bet when you have an edge. And I have made money betting on and against both Clemson and USC this season. I just can't find an edge in this game. No play for me...
