He was but he missed an important part. He assumed if they missed the conversion earlier that the Tide would be up 2 but that's wrong. The Tide would have gone for the 2 and still had a chance to be up 3 because nobody sits on a worthless 2 point lead.

By the way that decision prevented over time and probably won them the game for Bama. He didn't mention that.
