Passing what up? Honestly what am I going to get in another country that I'm missing here? Some people that I can't understand a word they say, culture shock, homesickness, bad food, bacteria laced water? If I were born in Nicaragua first chance I got I'd hop the US/Mexico fence and say call me Miguel the new American and bring my pregnant wife/gfs over to make some American babies, hell it's an instant lottery win for your kids, have her pop that sperm you shot in her out in Nicaragua and you might as well point the kid to the coffee plantation or w/e ppl do down there for 5 bucks a day

you sure have a lot of knowledge about places you've never been.
you know that $500 you spent on your foot? you could have had that done by a more qualified doctor for $50 here.

Yeah, and when I go camping I'm invariably glad to eventually return home, sleep in a warm bed, and eat a home cooked meal.
That doesn't mean, however, that I don't believe myself fundamentally richer and stronger for the experience.

Good for you, you sleep in a tent in the woods and are fundamentally stronger b/c you got bit by some insects and lived to tell about it , me personally I'll pass

It's not just Americans.
I am a Canadian who has never had much desire to travel. I'm not aggressively ignorant like bettil - I can see how expanding the horizons is a good thing - but I just don't have much hankerin'.
I've only ever been outside Canada and the U.S. once. I didn't really have any choice. It was a Barbados family trip when I was a kid, where we went and hung around with other Canadians and Americans for a week.
My parents and sister have been everywhere in the world twice. I have friends who travel all over. I have had opportunities. Just not my thing (so far).
I would add that I make a point of knowing a lot about the world. But just not from first hand experience (so far).
So there's that, for whatever it's worth.

No, I consider the US to be very safe, as long as you don't venture into the black neighborhoods at night you'll be fine, which no normal white person would do anyway. In other countries you gotta keep your Glock fully loaded with the safety off just to get a cup of coffee

Now I feel rather silly on two levels.
I've sat at many an outdoor cafe in places around the world and foolishly never felt threatened.
and
I've spent a whole life robbing myself of the penis substitutive experience of owning a gun.

Been to Canada and Cancun, Mexico. On our honeymoon, did a cruise to the Bamanas. Also as a kid have been to Japan and Okinawa. When kids are out of the house (going to be a while) I would love to travel to Europe.

Let's see 12.50 an hour for doin next to nothin, data entry in an air-conditioned office for 8 hours and you pull in a 100 bucks, while Miguel dies of heat stroke pickin coffee beans for a fiver, not sure how accurate your comparison is but even so if ppl are goin postal for 100 bucks a day for nothing imagine how they'd feel for 5 bucks a day workin like a slave

I know tons of people here that make peanuts and are happy as can be and love their lives.
I know many more people in the usa that make $100,000 a year and are miserable.

You must travel if you have the means. You only live once and it'd be a shame not to see what the world had to offer. To think that beyond the US borders lies nothing by 3rd world countries in war and poverty is asinine. Try Greece and the plethora of islands all around it and you will never want to come back. Ever. Try Switerland and Italy and you will see and meet some of the most beautiful and nicest people in the world. And then there's Ireland. Cold and rainy, but it wont matter because you'll be drunk half the time and it will be fun as hell.

I'll take the miserable 100k/yr if u don't mind, in any event most countries that have huge class disparity have to protect their wealthy with armed guards, are they just paranoid, maybe maybe not, I'm just makin my incredibly accurate observations of reality

Yes surely you have a much better perception of it than i do.
I live in a city that 20 years ago was considered the most dangerous city in the world.
I live in a middle class at best neighborhood. My apartment has no security guards. I'm a gringo. It's still quite safe.

If I lived anywhere else in the world I would crawl across glass to dip a toe in the land of dreams we call the USA, on the other hand luckin out and be born American saves me a cut up chest, not sure how they can build a fence good enough to keep the Mexicans out, hell I'd shoot myself out of a cannon if I had to get across that border

Good luck then, if you live in a stable country you shouldn't have any prob, your country will only be poorer and provide less opportunities than mine and the food/water will of course probably cause you to shit like a water fountain all night long, other than that enjoy yourself abroad, I'll look after the US while your gone

You have $60,000 of action every night and you live in an apartment in a 3rd world country? What are you going to tell us next? That you withdraw pesos from an ATM from your CitiBank account in New York?
