Should the NFL abolish Ties?

Every year there will be a tie and it feels like a major let down in the game.

With the new rule being if you kick a FG on first possession the other team gets a possession and if they kick a FG then next points win. Ten minutes could come off the clock in this scenario leaving only 5 more minutes for a team to win. This increases the likelihood of potential ties.

What is your opinion and if you could change the OT rules what would they be?

Yes. Go to sudden death one play from the 3 yard line. If one team scores then the other gets a chance, back and forth til it's over.

ties are pretty rare (new rules do increase likelihood though), so you might as well eliminate them completely.

do something similar to college, or possibly disallow punting. freaking hockey got rid of ties, be gone with them.

abolish ties. they should just play under the current OT style until there's a winner.

I say just keep it the way it is, if a team can't score in a quarter, no one deserves to win. I know there are scoreless quarters all the time, but in OT take some chances if you want to win.

Ties are horrible. I vote yes get rid of em. Nothing more annoying than watching a game for hours only to see a tie. Be gone with them!

NHL learned ties were for pussies a few years ago and implemented shoot outs. good decision

NFL needs to eliminate the game clock in OT and play with same rules until someone wins

actually the vast majority of them do. but it's easy to forget about that sport.

b) tie ain't the worst thing in the world
c) a long long game that doesn't have a 15 min clock on it could occur and be WAY more detrimental to the league/playoff scenarios.... as in a team has a 23 min OT and then has a Thurs game, ect.

if two teams play even, they play even.

on the bright side

a tie ain't a W in the win column or L in the loss column and makes tie breaks alot easier come playoff time

If teams don't want to play 23 minute OTs then they could simply take more chances. No one is forcing them to run the ball 3 times and punt away possession after possession.

College took the system from the CFL because of the excitement it creates.

Professional sports are about money not integrity.

NFL players like to dress up and look nice in tie's. I don't see why not.
