Cashed out from 2 seperate books recently and both had checks from Canadian banks and when I try to cash them they say the check needs to go through Collections first because it is from a Canadian bank. I'm worried that they won't cash the checks as both were 4 digits. I won't mention the names of the books however all the checks I had been receiving from 1 of the books was never from a Canadian bank before and I had cashed in larger amounts without an issue. Anyone else face similar issues?

#2This thread might end up being deleted, but it sounds like you need a new bank. Have they ever bounced before? Last time I got one of these it went right through.Comment -

#6The 4 major canadian banks offer US dollar checking accounts
If you look at the bottom of the checks from BMO, TD, or RBC you will see the routing number is less than 9 digits so when you visit a US bank to cash them their machine cant process them
If the checks are from CIBC then you can cash them, the routing number on the checks from CIBC dollar accounts is 9 digits so the US bank can process them
The canadian processor needs to write and send checks to the US from CIBC accounts not the other 3 banks
Ive had no problems cashing US dollar checks from CIBCComment -

#10funny you mention this as I was worried about having problems too, I just cashed out and deposited one the other day, it cleared in literally one day. I was shocked.
best of luck.Comment -

#11the bank just has to do a different procedure than normal while depositing. at least that is what the teller told me. I got the "oh this is a canadian check?", thought to myself, here we go, and he was like can you give me a minute we have to do something differently to deposit the check, he went and got another employee to help him. not sure what they did on the computer but whatever it was the fuker cleared in a day like i mentioned..Comment -
