They are 2-7 or whatever, a tie does them no good. Very good call in my opinion.

What? They could have pinned the Texans down at their own goal line and still have a shot to win.

They thought the Texans would take four knees and go for the tie. Sportsmanship.

Then why did they run the ball? That made literally no sense

That entire sequence was just pathetic

No time outs, they hadn't moved it well in 2nd half/ot, doubtful that they would have gotten it back, on the road you play for the win.

But Houston still has to march down the field to win and anything can happen. They throw an interception and you win the game.

You're 1-8. Like a loss or tie is going to make any difference. Houston would have probably kept the ball the rest of the time anyway.

they preferred to lose rather than tie

                            better draft position

Take this situation, you NEED a win to make the playoffs. You pick, the other team starts with at their own 10 2:30 minutes left, you have 0 time outs.
Or 4th and 10 for you at mid-field. You would never punt in that situation. I understand it is slightly different because the other team isn't trying to kill clock but still, which gives you a better chance at winning. They had already had a 4th and 10 conversion earlier.

I like this theory the best.

I can't wait for Tony Dungy to say "I don't understand this call at all." after Dan Patrick sets it up before the Sunday night game.

To take it out of the hands of the officials.

They weren't getting the ball back, refs would call illegal contact or some sort of shit to make sure of that. Then a couple of PIs later Houston would kick a fg. No way refs let another tie happen. At least this way they had a shot at a play and then kick a fg before Hochuli could call it in.
