New to SBR - Question about contests and units.
What's going on everyone? I am new to this site and really like the content and the forums. I have noticed that people are betting units in their threads? Just curious how this works and what units are. Also, are units free?

In addition, are there any free contests I can play in to win something?

Thanks for all of the help. Sorry is this seems like a dumb question.

    Hi Jshearer22,

    Welcome to SBR!

We have an NFL Contest tonight which is free to play in, and has a $250 prize pool. Check out this thread for more details.

Units are like "widgets"....a fictional figure/amount meant to represent something so people can compare apples to apples. If I bet $10/game and someone else bets $100/game, if I wanted to compare how well I do against someone else, I'd be able to do so. 1 unit = $25 for me, and 1 unit = $250 for them.

If you did $ amounts, it would be harder to judge how that person does comparatively because of the value difference.

Not sure what you mean by "credits".

They have "free" contests here that require you to have a sportsbook account (at one of the various sponsors). Sometimes they need to have money in them, other times you just need to sign up for an account. If you "win" any money, you get a transfer of the money to your sportsbook account. There is typically a "rollover" associated with it. If something has a 3x roll over on $100....that means you would have to place $300 worth of bets before you can cash out that money.

Once you complete the sign-up terms, you are given 4 credits which are good for a calendar year of our 4 major tournaments. So you would use one for "NBA On The money", and still be able to gain entry into our "NFL Beat The Prick contest".

SBRcontests has more details on signup procedure and any other questions you may have. And as always, we are here to help.
