    Thinking of getting a ps3
    I have a 360, but I sort of want a blu ray player... I have a 720p TV...so I have a couple of questions...

Will a blu ray player work at 720p HD?

Can I continue to play all the sports games?

Anyways just wondering if the 400.00 is worth it for a ps3...

I have speakers and subs up to my TV... and I have a badass Receiver that converts it all up to my TV...so thats not a problem...

Someone please answer this for me also, I know that PS3 online is free, but what other advantage does it have over 360?

My LCD HDTV I have now isn't very fancy, and it plays the blu-ray awesome. The same as regular HD content. I don't game very often on it, now and then, but it was a good investment because of the HD blu-ray playing ability. Blu players alone are like $200 or so, so if you like sports games too I'd say it's worth it.

They have a feature where you can rent/buy DVD's online and download it right to your PS3 too.

yeah, but can I run a blue ray disc or movie rental at 1080p tech and have it still display in hd on my tv at 720p?

Also which is louder a Xbox 360 or a ps3?

Blu Ray will work fine on your TV; any player you get will certainly be able to output at a resolution that your TV will accept.

One thing to note is that while it used to make a ton of sense to get a PS3 if you wanted a Blu-Ray player, the price of players have fallen relative to the PS3, such that you can get a decent player for significantly less. For example, Sony's BDP-S350 gets decent reviews and it can be had for $250.

I've never played a 360 so I can't compare the two. I've had a PS3 for about a year now and I love it. Yes, PlayStation Network is free for online play. Every Thursday the PlayStation store is updated with new demos, movie trailers and downloadable games $. Blu-Ray should work fine on a 720p TV, the PS3 also upconverts standard DVDs. There is a program called TVersity you can use on your computer to stream all media (music, photos, downloaded movies) to your PS3 with built in wi-fi. PS3 has a game called High Velocity Bowling that uses the controller with motion sensors, similar to the Wii, to bowl. All I can think of right now, just ask if you have any ?'s. I think the new 80g w/ Dual shock 3 controller and a game? is a great deal, considering I paid the same price for a 40g with no games last year.

personally, I like the way the sony's games are done, they are higher detailed and the blue ray is nice. I don't want to have o add another electronic item, so getting the blue ray dvd and ps3 would be nice to replace the good old just xbox...

Suprised Xbox won't release a blu ray adapter thing...

Microsoft has too much pride to release a Blu ray add on

yeah you could probably sell your xbox ~$150-- roughly the difference in price between PS3 and a standalone player.

Only downside is if there are games exclusive to xbox that you like, but if you only care about sports games, then there shouldn't be a problem.

...and they look badass on a 1080p TV/monitor. I love that feature.
