Is it any surprise that Seattle Mariners hired MLB's first Japanese manager?
They are owned by Nintendo, afterall.
They were also the first to sign a Japanese position player in Ichiro.

No surprise, not even an issue with me, especially when you consider they have hired, what?, 4-5 other non-Asian managers since a Japan-based company has been the majority owner? If race were really an issue, shouldn't it have been more of a surprise when they didn't hire someone of Asian ancestry?
One reason that Wakamatsu makes sense for ANY team in the AL West to hire him: I believe he's worked for them all. He might not work out as the dugout commander, but I'm betting just looking at this man's resume that he's one smart cookie when it comes to baseball overall.

It doesn't really bother me and not any other else what I feel. Nationality actually doesn't matter a lot....... the guy must be very intelligent and apt for the designation that's why he got the job..... no worries at all
