BetCris Weekly Review For July 10th
Italy claimed the 2006 Soccer World Cup in dramatic fashion yesterday after the score was deadlocked at 1-1 going into penalty shootouts. I’m not sure that the world cup winner should be decided by a penalty shoot out, but that’s what happened. Italy was favorites to win the cup at -150 with France at +130. The majority of our players believed in Italy having bet them from the original price of -120 to the close of -150. That price inflation though was good enough for one of our biggest players to bet France. He outlaid $50,000 at +130 and backed it up at halftime at odds of +140 for another $30,000 with the score tied at 1-1. We can’t really believe how big this world cup has been and now that it’s over, it will be sadly missed. We wish it was every year as every customer we had it seemed placed bets on one game or another. I think our happiest player this week was a value bettor who bet Italy for $5,000 at 12/1 before the tournament began.

Baseball heads into the mid season break with the home run derby tonight followed by the All-Star game on Tuesday. Big left hander’s Ryan Howard and David Ortiz are favorites to win the home run derby. The ‘inside’ information is that left hander’s have a good advantage hitting home run’s in Pittsburgh, so it might be worth thinking about that when placing your bets. After the American league’s dominance of the Interleague play, they find themselves a slight -142 favorite on Tuesday with the total currently at 10 over -120.

Wimbledon held a few surprises with a slightly slower surface. This may have contributed to Nadal reaching the final in the men’s only to be outgunned by Roger Federer being a large -700 favorite. Nadal did however have good betting support in the final with Federer going as low as -500 at some stages to attract some action.

Trevor Immelman won the Cialis Western Open on Sunday at nice odds of 40/1. He now has reduced his odds to win the British Open next week down to 40/1 from the original 60/1. Now is a great time to bet the British Open as odds can get reduced quickly if a player starts to get ‘hot’ this week.

    Until next week,

    Shane Catford

You gotta be stupid to bet soccer or tennis at Cris, with the juice they take.
