Truth be told... I could have made at least 15 of those passes. 5 yard outs, shuffle and screen passes shouldn't count.

All I know is this...
If I am down 6 points and need to pick between Eli Manning or Alex Smith, to lead my team to victory, I'm not picking Alex Smith.

i'm not asking....it's a fact. it's not acknowledged in the nfl record book. FACT.
Had Smith thrown one more pass and completed it, he would have qualified for the NFL record for completion percentage in a single game. In 2009. Kurt Warner completed 24 of 26 passes for 243 yards in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This time, it was the Cardinals' turn to suffer the effects of that ruthless efficiency.
For the second straight game, the San Francisco 49ers took their supposedly stodgy, unexciting offense and beat the excellent defense of an NFC West opponent over the head with a surprising number of strategic wrinkles. Two Thursdays ago, Jim Harbaugh's … Continue reading →

Smith is a system QB, a game MANAGER
Cant say Smith go out and throw me 300 yards with 3 TDs and no run support
Brees has made a career of doing that.

Alex Smith does what his supervisor wants him to do, but he is no heavy-hitter or superstar.
Just like most people at their jobs/careers.

Smith has a good system to work in, with a great running game and some good receivers so he should at least be decent, when you factor in his experience level. He was just bad until Harbaugh came along ... but he is the perfect guy for their system; kind of like Ringo with the Beatles, not flashy, very simple, but kept a great backbeat that was perfect for their music.

Seems like an NFL QB needs a ring to be considered "Elite", Dan Marino aside.
How does Alex Smith compare with guys like Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub or Joe Flacco is a more interesting question to me.

Thank you. I thought I was the only person that noticed this. Almost all of the yards gained were after the catch,
